AND ANOTHER THING

ailbhe 29y6m
The same doctor who had the chance to require a pregnancy test earlier but didn't make clear it was non-optional until it was too late? He also talked over me when saying "reason for procedure" - He said "reason for procedure, contraception," and I said "No, to control my periods," and he said "Oh no, it's for contraception." WTF? Contraception is for people who are well enough to have sex lives, sunshine. Take your pregnancy test and shove it.

I wonder if that's a funding thing. I had a similar wrangle with my otherwise excellent GP when I tried various hormonal pills for period horridness. Basically if it's for periods I would have to pay, but if it's for contraception I wouldn't - I said I'd be hard to justify contraception when my partner is female and am not having sex with anyone else.

Contraception may rate higher (fundable) in NHS stats than hideous hormone fail but that's not an excuse for talking over you and surely doctorkins could EXPLAIN that to you as a y'know adult woman.

I wish hormonal problems and failperiods were taken way more seriously than they are now. Mine are bad enough and they're no where near as hideous as yours.

The 8 months or so I had non-hormonally-controlled periods while trying to conceive in 2011 have left me with zero sense of humour about period pain. And I seem to get off lightly compared to other women I know.

I get off lightly compared to some, where lightly is maxed out painkillers short of morphine. Thankfully a friend recommended flurbiprofen which is a NSAID which really works for the pain, shame like all good anti period pain drugs it fucks up my balance (probably linked mechanisms) so I can only take it for 2 days at a go, but it's dropped my codeine requirement to 15-30mg instead of 60+ 6hrsly.

I am considering the coil myself although procrastinating as I have 3 other more urgent medical nonsenses to faff with (hands in progress, hips TODO, eyes in progress) and really CBA.

I suspect barakta is right and it's linked into funding and so on issues.
