I can't decide whether I want to howl in glee or despair. This is very like reading What Mothers Do Especially When It Looks Like Nothing by Naomi Whatsername, in that I keep going "YES! That thing! That there! That thing too! That! MY GOD I KNEW IT MUST BE LIKE THAT! Those statistics don't surprise me in the least - wow, that's worse than I thought - NO WONDER I WAS AFRAID OF THAT -" and on and on and on.

I am very grateful to radegund for recommending it to me and will reread it more slowly later on. Meanwhile, I recommedn it.

Because trapping women through economic dependence is good for children. And fathers have NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Apparently I want to be famous. I've just discovered that Jessica Valenti and I were born on the same day and now I feel all inadequate.

No doubt this will pass.

Today started at 4:30 am, when I realised that there were two girls in our bed; Emer woke up, saw Linnea, and decided it was a good time to party. "Yay-ya! Yay-ya!" she cried, and all hope of sleep was lost.

We had apple and lychee sorbet for dessert, which was lovely. And I ought to be writing up that article on feeding an older baby, and doing my BfN homework for my course; I have another class tomorrow, after Linnea's swimming lesson.

I recently acquired a set of Lilypadz because mere absorbent breastpads cannot possibly hope to cope with my supply. The idea is that these pads actually stop the leaking, rather than merely soaking it up before it reaches the outside of my clothes.

They seem to work so far, though I haven't tried them in the morning when things are soggiest.

The freakish thing is that they work basically by pushing the nipple in and holding it there. Looking down, it looks like I'm wearing some kind of padded bra. I've been smoothed. Sculpted. My clothes look different. It's very disconcerting.

I have a vague feeling that this nippleless look is considered desirable in parts of the US, partially because of the blurb on the box, not quoted here for fear of perpetuating scary anti-nipple rhetoric.
